Self Launcher 3.0

With the Self Launcher, we are offering you a tool to easily solo-launch the BOOST2. Position the kite at the edge of the wind window, connect the sandbag (which comes with the kite), or any other bag and place this on the ground. Once the kite lines are tensioned the Self Launcher automatically releases safely at just the right moment. Recommended use: lower to medium windrange of the used kite size.

Adaptive Airfoil Bridle Kit

Profile adjustment – like sailing or on airplane wings – this is the idea behind the Adaptive Airfoil System. A minimalistic trailing edge bridle makes it possible to adjust the profile of the kite during flight. Especially noticeable on the excellent low end or when relaunching. The Adaptive Airfoil Bridle is integrated in the sizes 15.0LW and 18.0LW and is optionally available for sizes 11.0 & 13.0m, making them ideal for hydrofoiling.

IKA registered

FLYSURFER is passionate about kite-racing so we have registered the BOOST2. This allows you to attend every official IKA race event in the L.E.I. class. Even if a FLYSURFER kite construction is officially approved for kite racing in the IKA class – Formula Kite, this does NOT mean that the kite itself is automatically IKA registered. This must be registered by the rider him/herself, so that he/she is allowed to officially compete in the IKA class – Formula Kite and it’s specific events. Link to registration form

The Wind Range Chart is to be used as a point of reference. It is based on a rider who weighs around 75kg (165lbs.) Actual use will vary depending on your weight, skill level, board size and the wind conditions on the water or land. When choosing a kite size, always use common sense and always choose a smaller size if you are not sure, especially when using the kite on land.

Free Flow 2.0 Valve, what is that?

A super solid and clean valve solution, based on a standard SUP bayonet-style valve. Basically it offers the following advantages:

Less flow resistance for easy pumping
An integrated deflation mechanism
A great solution for snow kiting as well
Secure inflation, since the pump hose snaps in snugly with the bayonet and can’t pop out
Double sealing: blowback valve + screw lid with seal. That means every single one already keeps the kite sealed

Is the BOOST2 inflatable with every other kite pump?

Yes, of course! We made sure that it was possible to inflate the kite with any normal kite pump because, let’s be honest, everybody prefers to leave the pump at home instead of having it take up space in their luggage. That’s why we placed a small adapter on the center strut of every BOOST2 which allows every other pump to fit into the Free Flow 2.0 Valve. As additional backup for emergency cases, the kite is also inflatable by use of the small 8mm ball valve, which we primary included to allow connection with a compressor.

That little extra 8mm ball valve: Do I need to leave it open when storing the kite?

No, you don’t. This is used on the CRONIX, BOOST1 and BOOST2, as a backup inflation option, for use when inflating by compressor, for example. People who always inflate using a hand pump (like most of us) can keep that valve closed. This is normally the case and has not had any problems. This system has been used and proven in our kites for a few years now.

A technical excurse: On the market there are numerous different kinds of valves and materials used, for example soft PVC versus TPU. It can of course be possible that problems with stretching exist with products from some other manufacturers, with the reason being that soft-PVC valves are often installed (cheaper). We only use premium and high-cost TPU, which is can be perfectly welded with the bladder (which is also made of TPU). When joining parts made of different materials, welding doesn´t work optimally and the parts therefore need to be glued. This has the common risks and dangers that the valves peel off, for example while storing the kite in a hot car.With welded valves like those on the CRONIX, BOOST1 and BOOST2 this cannot happen.

At FLYSURFER, we recommend closing the valves again after rolling up the kite so no sand can enter the bladder. Grains of sand inside of the bladder can damage the bladder and kite over time.

Is there a `standard bayonet´?

Unfortunately not. It seems pretty simple, but a quick look around will show that there is no universal bayonet design. For example, for quite some time now the same bayonet will not fit into Core valves and North valves, even though the bayonets look very similar. While Core/North/F.one/FLYSURFER were making the switch to the new Free Flow 2.0 hand pump, even more bayonets arrived on the market. North provides the same pump with a different bayonet as Core, for example. They are not compatible with each other, even though the bayonet looks similar. All in all, there at least 4-5 different “kite bayonets” on the market, almost none of which offers a tight fit and good seal. Most of the time these bayonets leak due to the lack of a secure sealing mechanism and they are prone to breaking due to their narrow shape. This is why we feel the SUP bayonet stands apart. It is easy to connect, and when firmly tightened it fits snugly and cleanly over the seal at the front. After testing multiple valves in the BOOST2-prototypes over the last year (including “kite bayonets”), the SUP bayonet proved itself in the field and we see it as the best solution. We have also seen that several other manufacturers have begun to experiment with it, and we are curious what will follow.

Self Launcher 3.0

Der Self Launcher ist ein Tool, um den BOOST2 entspannt alleine zu starten. Dazu positionierst du den Kite am Windfensterrand und hängst lediglich den mitgelieferten Sandsack an der entsprechenden Stelle im Schirm ein. Sobald du die Leinen unter Spannung bringst, löst der Self Launcher im richtigen Moment zum Starten aus. Empfohlener Einsatz: unterer bis mittlerer Windbereich der jeweiligen Kite-Größe.

Adaptive Airfoil Bridle Kit

Profilwölbung – wie bei Seglern oder Flugzeugflügel – ist die Idee hinter dem Adaptive Airfoil System. Durch eine einfache Hinterkantenwaage ist es möglich, die Wölbung des Profils während dem Flug zu verstellen. Besonders merkbar ist der Effekt im Lowend oder beim Relaunch. Die Adaptive Airfoil Bridle ist an den Größen 15.0LW und 18.0LW angebracht und ist optional für die Größen 11.0 & 13.0 erhältlich, was sie perfekt zum Hydrofoilen macht.

Free Flow 2.0 Handpump

Die riesige Luftkammer der Free Flow 2.0 Handpump und der effektivere Lufteinbringungsprozess unterstützen dich, damit du mit wenig Mühe in kürzester Zeit zu einer flotten Kitesession auf’s Wasser kommst.

Dieser neue FLYSURFER Tubekite-Buddy hat einen größeren Pumpenkörper, einen ausgeprägteren Griff, einen dickeren Schlauchdurchmesser und mehr Fläche am Standfuß. Im Innenbereich ist ein neue Sandabdichtung integriert. Außen ist ein Manometer platziert und eine Bedienungsanleitung der etwas anderen Art abgebildet. Den Pumpvorgang kann man von Single- auf Double-Action umstellen – aber egal welche Variante man wählt, der Pumpenlauf ist sehr reibungsarm.

Mit Hilfe der beiligenden Adapter kann man – neben dem Free Flow 2.0 Ventil – auch andere übliche Ventilsysteme mit der neuen Pumpe aufblasen. Zusammengefasst der Mehrwert: Effektiver, leichtgängiger, Bladder-schonender, witziger, langlebiger … und sogar günstiger als beim Mitbewerber.

Die Tabelle dient nur als grobe Richtlinie. Die Angaben beziehen sich auf einem Fahrer mit einem Gewicht von 75kg. Die richtige Kite-Größe hängt vom eigenen Körpergewicht, Wasser/Land Bedingungen und der Boardgröße sowie Typ (kleines Twintip oder Hydrofoil) extrem ab. Lass dich bei der Wahl der Kitegröße von der eigenen Erfahrung und dem gesunden Verstand leiten. Sollten Zweifel bezüglich der richtigen Kitewahl bestehen, lieber eine Größe kleiner wählen!

Free Flow 2.0 Valve, was ist das?

Eine super solide und saubere Ventillösung basierend auf einem SUP-Standard Bajonett. Das bedeutet im Klartext folgende Vorteile:

Wenig Durchflusswiderstand für leichtes Pumpen
Integrierter Deflation Mechanismus
Funktioniert auch bestens beim Snowkiten
Pumpschlauch sauber eingerastet durch Bajonett, kann nicht herauspoppen
Doppelte Abdichtung: Rückschlagklappe + Deckel mit Dichtung. Auch jede einzeln hält schon den Kite dicht.

Was ist der Unterschied zum BOOST1?

Der BOOST2 verfügt über eine noch haltbarere steifere Kappe, die zusätzlich durch das D2 Double RipStop Tuch aufgewertet wird. Dadurch steht der BOOST2 glatter im Wind und hat ein reaktiveres Handling. Das neue Free Flow 2.0 Ventil aus dem iSUP-Bereich verbessert den Komfort und steigert die Effektivität beim Pumpvorgang.

Kann man den BOOST2 mit jeder anderen Kitepumpe aufpumpen - z.B. im Urlaub?

Ja, selbstverständlich! Natürlich haben wir an diese Möglichkeit gedacht. Gerade weil man im Urlaubsgepäck gerne die Pumpe einspart. An jedem BOOST2 ist ein kleiner Adapter an der Centerstrut plaziert, mit dem man jede andere Pumpe ans FreeFlow-Valve2 anschließen kann. Als zusätzliches Backup kann man im Notfall immer noch über das zusätzliche kleine 8mm Kugelventil aufpumpen, was wir primär für den Anschluss eines Kompressors an jedem Kite verbaut haben.

Kleines Extra 8mm Kugelventil: Muss man es zum Einlagern öffnen?

Nein. Dieses dient an CRONIX, BOOST1 und BOOST2 als Backup z.B. zum Aufpumpen mit Kompressor. Wer nur mit Pumpe aufpumpt, wie die Meisten, kann dieses Ventil immer geschlossen halten. Keine Probleme, das ist der Standardfall, und jetzt bei unseren Kites auch schon mehrere Jahre bewährt.

Ein technischer Exkurs: Auf dem Markt existieren verschiedene Ventil Varianten und Materialien, z.B. TPU und Weich-PVC. Es kann durchaus möglich sein, dass bei manchen anderen Herstellern das Problem des Weitens existiert, aus dem Grund, dass oft Weich-PVC Ventile verbaut sind (billiger). Wir verwenden ausschließlich hochwertiges und teueres TPU , auch damit es sich optimal mit dem Bladder (auch bestehend aus TPU) verschweißen lässt. Kombiniert man verschiedene Materialien, funkioniert das Schweißen nicht optimal und man muss kleben. Mit den üblichen Gefahren, dass sich die Ventile beim Lagern im heißen Auto ablösen o.ä.. Mit geschweißten Ventilen wie bei CRONIX, BOOST1 und BOOST2 kann das nicht passieren.

Grundsätzlich empfehlen wir, jedes Ventil (Free Flow 2.0 und Kugelventil) nach dem Zusammenrollen wieder zu schließen, damit kein Sand in den Bladder kommt. Sandkörner im Inneren können bei jedem Kite langfristig das Bladdermaterial beschädigen.

Wie und warum montiere ich eine Hinterkanten Waage beim BOOST2?

Das Team von Kitejunkie.com hat eine sehr informative Video-Anleitung gemacht, sie zeigen direkt am Kite wie man die Leinen der Waage korrekt an den BOOST2 anknüpft und erklären gleichzeitig für was die extra Waage gut ist.

Gibt es ein `Standard Bajonett´?

Es ist leider nicht so einfach wie es auf den ersten Blick scheint. Wenn man sich etwas genauer mit allen Pumpen am Markt beschäftigt, stößt man schnell darauf, dass es leider kein Einheits-Bajonett gibt. Zum Beispiel passt seit längerer Zeit das gleiche Bajonett nicht in Core-Ventile und North Ventile gleichzeitig, auch wenn es ähnlich aussieht. Seit dem Umstieg von Core/North/F.one/FLYSURFER auf die neue FreeFlow2.0-Pumpe, sind mittlerweile noch mehr verschiedene Bajonetts im Markt als vorher. North liefert die gleiche Pumpe mit einem anderen Bajonett aus als z.B. Core. Sie sind untereinander leider nicht kompatibel, auch wenn das Bajonett ähnlich aussieht. Insgesamt sind mindestens 4-5 verschiedene “Kite-Bajonetts” im Markt. Nahezu kein Kite-Bajonetts ist optimal im Festklemmen und Abdichten. Sie sind meistens undicht mangels ordentlichem Dichtmechanismus und empfindlich bzgl. einem Brechen am feinen Bajonett.

Hier ist das SUP-Bajonett um Welten besser. Es ist leicht zu montieren und klemmt sich beim Festdrehen sauber über die stirnseitige Dichtung fest. Nach vielen Tests und verschiedenen Ventil Prototypen in den BOOST2 Prototypen über das letzte Jahr (auch “Kite-Bajonett”), haben wir das SUP-Bajonett in der Praxis mit Abstand für die beste Lösung befunden. Es ist schon bekannt, dass mehrere andere Hersteller ebenfalls damit experimentieren, man wird sehen was folgt.
