FLYSURFER Dominates at EDGE Race Cup with SONIC RACE

Our FLYSURFER crew & FLYSURFER UK agent Maxtrack were down in Exmouth this weekend for the EDGE Race Cup – this is the 2017 British Hydrofoil Racing National Championships and the only major race event in the UK calendar. There were more entries for than before and the racing was closer than ever before. FLYSURFER kite designer Benni Boelli came down for the weekend for some final pre-serial testing of the first production run of his new babies; the soon to be released SONIC RACE. This kite is an all out race kite – designed for one thing only – winning races!

Our FLYSURFER design team has managed to lose around 70 meters of bridle by going from 4 rows of bridle (A, B, C, Z) to just three (A, B, Z)! This 3-Level Bridle Design is a massive step forwards in terms of development. The SONIC RACE also comes in a new kite cloth, called X-Light Fabric. This new X-Light Fabric has the best qualities for maximum performance and impressive longevity. The incredibly lightweight (32g / m²) double-ripstop material is highly tear-resistant as well as airtight, and provides an extremely smooth sail. Proven features such as Cordwise Ballooning, Rigid Foil Technology, and Sharp Mini Ribs are integral parts of the new design and remain. Benni together with team Bridge did final trimming on the new SONIC RACE while in Exmouth.

Saturday was tricky with the weather. Conditions kept changing with riders being overpowered one minute then no wind at all the next. Nonetheless a successful day of kite racing was held completing 4 races for the Pro category and 3 for the Amateurs.

After an evening do hosted at the excellent Pebblebed Vineyard racing was resumed on Sunday. The wind was on, the sun was out and an excellent day of racing ensued. The competition was close between Olly and Guy Bridge for the #1 spot, with Olly maintaining his lead, winning 7 out of 8 races. The competition for 3rd and 4th between Benni and Connor was even closer with Benni eventually taking the final podium spot giving FLYSURFER and the new SONIC RACE the full podium after 8 races.

Unsers FLYSURFER Crew & FLYSURFER UK Agent Maxtrack waren dieses Wochenende in Exmouth für den EDGE Race Cup – dies sind die 2017 British Hydrofoil Racing National Championships und das einzig große Race Event Großbritannien. Es waren mehr Anmeldungen und knappere Rennen als je zuvor. FLYSURFER Kite Designer Benni Boelli flog für das Wochenende rüber, um ein paar finale Vorserientests seines Babys zu machen; dem bald veröffentlichten SONIC RACE. Dieser Kite ist ein absoluter Racekite – designed für nur eine Sache – Rennen gewinnen!

Unser FLYSURFER Entwicklungsteam hat es geschafft etwa 70 Meter Bridles zu kürzen, indem sie von einem 4-Level Bridle Design (A, B, C, Z) auf dein 3-Level Design (A, B, Z) umgestiegen sind! Dieses 3-Level Bridle Design ist einein großer Schritt nach vorne im Sinne der Wettkampf-Kite-Entwicklung. Der SONIC RACE ist mit einem neuen Tuch, dem X-Light Tuch, ausgestattet. Dieses neue X-Light Tuch besticht mit den besten Werten für maximale Performance bei hervorragender Langlebigkeit. Das unglaublich leichte 32g/m² Double Ripstop Material, ist besonders reißfest, sowie luftdicht und sorgt für ein extrem glattes Segel. Benni und Bridge haben zusammen das finale Trimmen des neuen SONIC RACE in Exmouth gemacht.

Samstag war knifflig mit dem Wetter. Die Bedingungen haben sich ständig geändert, was das Überpowern der Fahrer in der einen Minute und das Unterpowern in der Anderen zur Folge hatte. Nichtsdestotrotz ein erfolgreicher Tag mit 4 Races in der Pro Kategorie und 3 für die Amateure ging zu Ende.

Am Sonntag war der Wind top, die Sonne hat gescheint und es folgte ein excellenter Racing Tag. Der Wettbewerb war besonders spannend zwischen Olly und Guy Bridge um Platz #1, Olly behielt die Führung mit 7 von 8 Siegen. Der Kampf zwischen Benni und Connor um Platz 3 und 4 war noch knapper. Schlussendlich sicherte sich Benni den dritte Podiumsplatz. FLYSURFER und der neue SONIC RACE besetzen somit alle Plätze auf dem Podium nach 8 erfolgreichen Rennen.
